‘Call the Midwife’ season 3, episode 5 preview (PBS): Jessica Raine and the road ahead

On Sunday night’s “Call the Midwife,” there were some fairly shocking events that transpired. Just how shocking are we talking about? It’s enough that we want to start this particular article off with a spoiler warning. If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode yet, this is a very good time to turn away.

Alec is dead, and where does the story go from here? This was a game-changing character for the Jenny Lee character, since it makes a fundamental shift in her entire life and forces her to rethink almost everything. Her presence for the next episode is going to be much more limited, as she is away from the rest of the characters and there is only so much involvement that she could have in the story.

So thanks to her being away, the rest of the cast is going to have all sorts of other adventures that they can take part in. This includes a fun opportunity to see more of Trixie, and also a new member of Nonnatus. After all, there had to be someone to take her place in the time that she was away.

While we’re not going to spoil too much when it comes to the rest of the season, you don’t have to worry about whether or not Jenny will be back. She is going to return to her current life and her profession before this season of the show is over. As for what else will happen, that’s still under wraps!
