Easter TV: Are ‘Revenge,’ ‘Resurrection,’ ‘The Mentalist,’ and ‘Family Guy’ new tonight?

Resurrection -With many holidays, there is one thing that you can almost surely expect to see like clockwork: Some changes when it comes to programming. Easter is by and large a different beast than most. Since the majority of people all choose to celebrate it in the morning and the afternoon, it doesn’t typically impact television programming too much in the evening.

That is once again the case tonight, as there is a full array of programming on for you to enjoy from start to finish. Really, there are only a few exceptions to the rule when it comes to shows being on … and the majority of them are airing over on ABC.

So what’s going on there? “Once Upon a Time” is new, but both “Resurrection” and “Revenge” are going to be airing repeats. Why? ABC is opting instead to air a new movie tonight, and they likely want to ensure that there is more of both of these shows for the May sweeps. Even though “Revenge” may not be a ratings monster, it does at least traditionally compete with “The Mentalist” over at CBS to be #1 in the timeslot. There is also no “Family Guy” or anything else on Fox’s Animation Domination lineup save for “Cosmos,” mostly because they want to save those episodes.

So almost everything else, whether you are talking about “Game of Thrones,” “Mad Men,” “The Mentalist,” “The Amazing Race,” or “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” will all still be around with new episodes. So go and have your Sunday brunch with your family (or lunch, at the time we’re writing this), and feel comfortable knowing that you are going to have plenty to watch.

We’ve also installed a new “TV Highlights” feature where you can see the attached sidebar near the bottom of the page, and it will tell you some of the programs in particular to keep watch over.
