‘The Good Wife’ season 5, episode 18 preview: Michael J. Fox’s return

Good Wife -So why is Michael J. Fox returning to “The Good Wife” on Sunday night’s new episode? We have a feeling that the sneak peek video below should make that pretty clear for you. According to Louis Canning himself, he is merging with Lockhart/Gardner, and that’s quite a bit problem for Alicia.

Do we really need to spell out why? The relationship between these two characters is well-documented, and Canning is one of the best legal adversaries out there for Julianna Margulies’ character. We’re also pleased to report that despite him being a part of his self-titled but short-lived NBC comedy, Fox has still found a way to be just as brilliant in this preview as he always is. He is the sort of actor who you want to like and believe anytime you see him, and that makes him all the greater when he plays someone with so many unlikable wrinkles.

We still have our doubts and plenty of them as to whether or not Fox will be around long-term or if this merger will happen, and for good reason. While “The Good Wife” may have room for more actors now that Josh Charles is gone, we have a hard time seeing them being able to afford an actor of Michael’s fame full-time, even if he does really enjoy the role and receive so many honors for it.

Then again, who knows? Producers did such a great job keeping the death of Will under wraps that maybe they have another shocker or two still waiting up their sleeve. There are still four episodes left after this one airs in order to further shock us, so we’ll have to wait and see just what they are able to come up with.
