‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15 spoilers: First look at Mariska Hargitay in ‘Post-Mortem Blues’

When “Law & Order: SVU” returns with new episodes on NBC Wednesday, April 30, it will be doing so by picking up almost entirely where the show left off at the end of the William Lewis saga.

The good news is that Mariska Hargitay’s character did survive “Beat’s Obsession,” as Lewis shot himself rather than allowing himself to be turned in to the police yet again. Now, the photo from “Post-Mortem Blues” shows that Olivia is struggling to make sense of where she is at, and what she is gone through. This episode is going to give Mariska Hargitay another opportunity to deliver an amazing performance, but for the sake of the story, hopefully it will also provide some further insight into where she goes from here.

So where else could the rest of the season go? You know now that Donal Logue is going to be back for multiple episodes, and the story when it comes to Olivia thinking about adoption will also pick up. Given that there is no word yet as to if this show will be renewed for a 16th season, the producers have the challenge of making sure that this season has a satisfying ending that could double as a series finale, while also ensuring that there is something further to look forward to if there is a renewal. (We may not know if that is going to happen until May. While the show gets decent ratings, it is also very expensive compared to some of the other competition that is out there.)
