ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 finale spoilers: More teases from Kerry Washington

Take a look -Scandal” fans, the moment is almost here: In a matter of a few simple hours from now, the hit ABC series will be closing the doors on a crazy, at-times head-spinning third season that never stopped for even a split-second. You could see this as a good and a bad thing, we suppose. It all depends on whether or not you want more individual character moments.

What we can say for now is that if you loved what the show pulled off in the first 17 episodes of this season, you’re probably going to love the finale based on what star Kerry Washington told The Hollywood Reporter today:

“One of the craziest things about this season’s finale is that you’d think at this point it would be impossible to shock us as a cast anymore, but we were floored after this table read. It gets crazier and crazier in the most wonderful way. Even the writers were excited about it during the table read. [Showrunner] Shonda[Rhimes] kept saying, ‘It’s only Act 2! It’s only Act 3!’ because we couldn’t believe how much story was being exploded in each act. It’s quite a ride.”

Let’s try to think for a second about just how much stuff the show has to resolve. You have the Presidential election, Mellie and Andrew as a possible couple, the bombing, the aftermath of the bombing, Huck / Quinn / Charlie and what choosing Huck means for Quinn, Cyrus moving on with his life, Olivia’s parents, Mellie’s son, and of course the future of Olivia and Fitz together. There’s no way that all of that is touched on in 43 minutes of actual episode time … right? We’ll have to find out.

Come back later today to the link here, since we’re going to detail some of what we expect to see happen in the show’s inevitable fourth season. Also, sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter if you want to get some more scandalous TV news sent right to your email.
