ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 18 review: Who ‘died,’ and who departed?

Take a look -During Sunday night’s “Revenge” episode, we were extremely excited thanks to the return of one character and one character alone: Mason Treadwell. He’s the master of being devious, and given his history, we were hoping that he’d stick around.

Unfortunately, that just wasn’t to be. We had a sinking suspicion that Mason was going to die during “Blood,” and that initially turned out to be the case. Stevie Grayson tried to help him, but thanks to her and Emily Thorne, he ended up suspiciously dead. Jack then had to pick up the pieces of his mother, who was relapsing into alcoholism. This means the end to the Stevie story supposedly, as she was convinced to go home and out of this mess. Jack had an offer to go with her, but he decided ultimately against it.

So here is the classic “Revenge” twist: Mason wasn’t actually dead. In the latest stunt by Emily and Nolan, they managed to sneak him out of prison using a special herb to mask his “death,” and then gave him a new deal in order to ensure that he stayed quiet. He does still seem to be on his way out of the story, but not before handing down additional information.

Thanks to Mason, Emily now has a tiny bit of information now on Pascal’s connection to the entire David Clarke saga … and she found that out after hooking up with Aiden after a heartfelt visit with his mother. This episode was a little bit heavy on the “bridge-building,” and we’re waiting to see what is on the other side. There were good moments, but it was still fairly ho-hum … especially after watching it right after the “Game of Thrones” premiere. Grade: C+ (mostly for Margaux and Conrad hanging out together … seriously?)
