ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ episode 5 preview: Bellamy and Jacob’s surprise guests

For the first four episodes of “Resurrection,” the majority of the story has been contained around the small community of Arcadia, Missouri, and the phenomenon that stems from so many of its dead residents suddenly coming to life.

However, Sunday night’s new episode may very well introduce the idea of this phenomenon expanding, at least to the point where branches of the military could be involved. There’s an interesting juxtaposition in the sneak peek below of Agent Bellamy and Jacob playing with Army men, and then real-life Army men coming in and taking Jacob away just as we are starting to find out more about Bellamy’s past and upbringing.

On the surface, this looks like an extremely serious, heartbreaking moment from the show. However, it’s also something that you have to question from the standpoint of whether or not we really should believe what we’re seeing. Dream sequences are a TV trope as old as time, and it feels very strange for the show to suddenly try to give us something that is so in contrast to the past four episodes. Where do all these people with guns come from?

As for whether or not it is insanely cruel for a show to introduce a sneak peek of something that is just a dream sequence, the answer is yet … it is very cruel. It makes you believe that this is fact, even though we may learn very soon that this is not the case at all.
