‘American Idol XIII’ results: Was CJ Harris, Sam Woolf, or Malaya Watson saved?

American Idol -American Idol XIII” came off its best live performance show of the season going into Thursday night’s results show, and there was only one question that we had to go along with that: Were we going to have a non-elimination round as a result of that? There are only so many weeks in which the save can be used, and this is an opportunity for that to happen.

Did we really expect a shock vote? Hardly, given that we knew that the top four at this point seem to be Alex Preston, Jessica Meuse, Jena Irene, and Caleb Johnson. From here, things start to get a little more interesting … and that leads us to the placement of Sam Woolf as the one “in danger of going home” after getting the fewest votes.

First of all, let’s say that America is really start to “get” this whole voting system this season. We like Sam in that he has a good voice, but they haven’t just voted for him because a young guy who the teenage girls go crazy over. He doesn’t connect emotionally in the way that he really needs to, and has a weakness in the same way that CJ Harris does with intonation.

Even with all this being said, we do still believe that it was possible that the judges could save him on the basis that the really want to save someone this year after not doing it last season. As it turns out, we were right! The funniest thing about this is that Sam really wasn’t that worthy of the save based on recent performances, but he still got this grand confetti shower like he had literally just won the entire show. Results Grade: C.
