‘Britain’s Got Talent’ 2014: Premiere date revealed; plus, see David Walliams in drag
While most American networks like to announce premiere dates long in advance in order to give you time to prepare for things, the same cannot be said fully for shows that are coming on across the pond. For whatever reason, most of the major British networks like ITV and BBC have no problem at all with holding on to their launch dates for as long as humanly possible. Maybe they like to have viewers excited and engaged for the full promotional period.
Anyhow, what we are here to report today is that the new season of “Britain’s Got Talent” finally has a premiere date, and it is none other than Saturday, April 12. Surprised? You really shouldn’t be, given that this is when the show tends to start up the vast majority of the time. It typically runs for a few weeks on the weekends, and then late May / early June has its full week of shows that culminate in a grand finale. It’s a fun, silly show, but also not one void of controversy. Last year, some were unhappy that a non-British act in Attraction ended up winning, despite the fact that all the voters were British.
We especially love the new trailer for the series below, mostly because it does an excellent job of playing off the fact that all for of these judges are parents now, including Simon Cowell. This is also a nice little subliminal message that the show is also meant to be family-friendly.
The man who really steals this clip in the end, though, is David Walliams, otherwise known as our favorite judge on any talent show ever. We love his deliberate attempts to get under Simon’s skin, and he’s also both honest and hilarious in his critiques.
