TV Quick Hits: Lady Gaga visits David Letterman; ‘Orphan Black’s’ honor; ‘Today’ on ‘Sharknado 2’

Lady Gaga performs on “The Late Show” – We begin this edition of TV Quick Hits with a headline that we imagined that we would actually have written a long time ago: Lady Gaga is finally going to perform on one of her hometown talk shows. Her performance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” Wednesday night is her first one ever, and hopefully, she is not going to go on and eat paper like she did three yers ago when she sat down for an interview.

While we’re glad to see her perform, we do at the same time love the awkward Letterman interviews where he goes out of his way to try to make some of his guests feel uncomfortable.

“Today Show” stars visit “Sharknado 2” – Just in case “Sharknado 2: The Second One” couldn’t get any crazier, know this: Matt Lauer and Al Roker are going to be a part of it. They shared a sneak preview on the show Wednesday, and it looks every bit as awesome as we you would expect.

“Sharknado 2” recently announced its premiere date this summer, so prepare yourself now however you see fit (even if that is hardly an easy thing to do).

Peabody Winners – There are a number of shows this year being honored with a prestigious Peabody Award for electronic media, and we want to spend at least a second rattling off the list of champions here in alphabetical order: “Borgen,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Bridge,” “Broadchurch,” “House of Cards,” “Key & Peele,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Orphan Black,” “The Returned,” and “Scandal.” You probably recognize the nice array of foreign TV shows in there, in addition to the variety of different mediums in which you watch them. All of this, or so we think, is more representative than ever before of how global TV viewing has become.
