‘Arrow’ season 2: A new look at Harley Quinn (behind the scenes, anyway)
“Arrow” season 2 loves its comic-book tie-ins, but there was no moment that excited so many fans for as little air time as when Harley Quinn turned up during “Suicide Squad.”
Technically, the show never said that it was even Harley. All you have is the sound of her voice, and maybe just the tiniest glimpse of the back of her head while she suggests help as a “therapist” to Diggle and Lyle while they are preparing to go on their mission. When “Arrow” bosses first put this cameo into the show, they had to know what they were doing. The only thing that we find ourselves wondering now is what they actually plan to do with the character. Fox is airing the new Batman series “Gotham” later this year, and would DC really be that kosher with allowing characters primarily from Bruce Wayne’s world onto this show? While we don’t see the problem with it, especially since Harley would most likely not even exist in the “Gotham” world save for maybe being a really young child, they may see it differently.
For now, what you have to smile about is this photo below from the Instagram of actor Michael Rowe, who plays the part of Diggle’s adversary Deadshot.
In case you are curious, the actress in the photo is Cassidy Alexa, who has managed to obtain a following just from this little cameo on the show alone. Maybe this was just a little DC Easter egg for diehard fans of the Batman comics to enjoy, but now that we’ve been teased, why can’t we just have something more substantial? (The voice of the character was Tara Strong, one of the more popular voice actors out there.)
Given that there are no Suicide Squad stories seemingly planned for the rest of the year, though, we’ll have to wait and see if this is something that could come back during season 3.
