ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: Stana Katic and a small filming update
With there not being another new episode of “Castle” airing on ABC until Monday, April 21, we understand feeling a little bit of restlessness. You want more updates! After all, who doesn’t?
While it may not be a new promo or sneak peek, we can at least give you a little bit more information today as to where the series is in the production process. Stana Katic wrote in a post on her Twitter account that the cast and crew was working hard on the penultimate episode of the season “Veritas,” and that they only had one more episode to go after that. This is yet another reminder that this season is an episode shorter than season 5, but we cannot really expect anyone to go through the brutal rigors of 24 episodes a year multiple times. (Plus, last year was pretty much 23 and a half since half of “Still” was old footage.)
For those curious as to how this works, the show will wrap early next month, and then Stana, Nathan Fillion, and the cast will have some time off in between promotional appearances to either do some other stuff or just rest up for the new season. Filming for most network shows resumes in either July or August, though the writers get together to start hammering out scripts many weeks before that.
Katic was careful to also remind fans on her account that technically, a seventh season of the show has not been confirmed yet. Do we believe that it is happening? Yes, given that we haven’t heard anything otherwise. ABC just has a pattern of waiting until early May typically to announce most of their renewals, which is a little later than the other networks. While “Castle’s” ratings are not the highest on ABC, they are far from the lowest and the show is largely lead-in independent at this point. It has been years since we have ever been seriously concerned for its future.
In case you missed it, we wrote yesterday about what some of the upcoming “Castle” episode titles are beyond “Veritas.” Check it out here. You can also sign up now to get further updates courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter.
