‘American Idol’ notes: Majesty Rose, Phillip Phillips, and Paul McDonald’s split

Majesty -In kicking off this weekend version of “American Idol” notes, we feel the pressing need to start off here the most-recent contestant eliminated in Majesty Rose. In going into the live shows, we will be the first to admit that we seriously thought she was someone who was going to be making it all the way to the final three or four. What derailed her? We feel like it was first the performance of “Let It Go,” and she never had the breakout moment she needed after that.

Speaking to reporters after her exit, Majesty did say that she and the other contestants go an opportunity to get a gift from none other than former winner Carrie Underwood. While this may not be the same thing as a ticket to the next round of the competition, we’re sure that it is still very much valued and appreciated:

“It was so great. All of our necklaces had our initials on them. So cute. In my letter she said, ‘Keep smiling.’ It meant everything. People keep saying that. I didn’t know my smile was that powerful. [As for the guys] got little dog tags.”

Majesty also said that her goal moving forward is to inspire people, and she expects her future album someday to be a mixture of happy tunes and inspirational ones.

As for some other subjects…

Phillip Phillips’ new album title – For all Phillip fans, you will be pleased to know that his new album “Behind the Light” is going to be out on May 19. This includes “Raging Fire,” which he recorded the music video for soon.

Also, be on the lookout for Phillip on “Conan” this coming week, where he will give a performance of the song from the show’s NCAA-inspired set in Dallas.

Paul McDonald, Nikki Redd split – A quick update from Mrs. Carter on this one. Paul McDonald from back in season 10 had one of the cooler stories out there, given that he met his eventual wife Nikki Reed on the red carpet for “Red Riding Hood” on one of the show’s organized field trips. Unfortunate, he and the “Twilight” star are now separating.

People Magazine was the first to report their split, and they also added that the two are surprisingly still planning to release their collaborative album “I’m Not Falling” later this year.
