‘Call the Midwife’ season 4: Who from the series just scored major gig?
While most of the news about “Call the Midwife” as of late (at least for viewers in the United Kingdom) has revolved around Jessica Raine, this story is more actually about one of the other ladies that she works with quite often on the BBC hit. (We’ll start this off here with a warning that if you want to avoid spoilers as an American, you really are better off to stop reading now.
Miranda Hart has become a fan favorite on the show thanks to her role as Chummy, and it is starting to feel more and more like there is potential for her to become a favorite on the big screen, as well! According to new reports from Deadline, Hart has been cast in the latest comedy fro director Paul Feig, which his starring his recent collaborator in Melissa McCarthy to go along with the likes of Jason Statham and Rose Byrne. This is a chance for her to show off some of those comedy talents that British audiences are already well aware of, and Feig has a knack for turning people into big stars.
As for what this means for Hart’s future on the BBC drama, that is still unclear; but, the good thing about “Call the Midwife” is that it doesn’t shoot all year. The fourth season is already at a disadvantage after Jessica Raine made the choice to leave the show.
The one thing that we’ll say here about Raine’s departure is that we’ve started to feel in recent weeks that some in the media have made it into a bad thing that she does suddenly want to go out to try other things out, including movies. What in the world is wrong with that? While we understand wanting to have a beloved actor around forever, but if they are feeling more passionate about something else, it’s better to let them go and to focus on a different direction for the story.
