‘Mind Games’ canceled by ABC; ‘Resurrection’ repeats to take its place

It could happen -Ready for some not-so-surprising news from ABC? Well, here we go: They have canceled another show that airs Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. Every time this happens, fans of “Body of Proof” probably die a little more inside that their show, which drew better ratings than at least this trio, was axed last season.

After just a handful of airings to terrible numbers, “Mind Games” has become the latest casualty. It follows up such shows as “Lucky 7” and “Killer Women,” which also had little success airing in a slot that is not helped at all by the really poor ratings for “Trophy Wife.” If the network finds a better way to take care of their Tuesday nights overall, there will be a bigger potential audience for any show they put here. They just need to come up with something with a more creative title that will actually grab the interest for some potential viewers out there.

One other interesting thing about the end of “Mind Games” is that it is another stroke of bad luck for creator Kyle Killen. He created the great-but-canceled “Lone Star” starring Josh Wolk, and then he went on to create another solid drama in “Awake,” which at least got a chance to air most of its run on NBC before getting canceled. This guy for whatever reason either isn’t getting the promotion, or has a hard time convincing people to check out his shows.

As for what will be replacing the show, repeats of “Resurrection” are going to run in the timeslot every Tuesday until April 15, which is when the old standby in “Celebrity Wife Swap” will premiere. That show will stay there until summer, when it will be back to the drawing board all over again.
