‘American Idol XIII’ top 8 spoilers: The theme for next week reportedly is…
Who needs to wait until the end of the “American Idol XIII” performance show to find out the theme for next week? Thanks to one of the current contestants, we may already have an idea of just what the contestants are all going to be belting out.
In an interview with AfterBuzz TV that took place after the show, Jena Irene suggested that next week, the remaining eight contestants are going to be performing their audition songs again as a way to show growth from where they were many months ago to where they are now. In theory, we’re actually okay with the idea of this … for the finale. This seems like a very random and arbitrary time to bring back repeat performances, especially since there are so many other possible themes out out there that could be used.
The one good thing that comes out of this? Getting to hear Majesty Rose’s impeccable “Violet Hill” again (if she makes it that far), or hear Alex Preston and Jessica Meuse get the opportunity to perform original songs on live television. Before Angie Miller at the end of last season, this was something that was virtually unheard of. Regardless of who is eliminated, it looks like there will be at least one original performance on the show next week if this theme holds up. Is it a little unfair to have someone doing an original? We feel like it balances out. While they understand the song better than anyone and may have a better emotional connection, they also have to handle the pressure of nobody out there really knowing the song outside of the show. Nobody will be voting for familiarity.
