The roster of impressive “Saturday Night Live” guest hosts continues to expand, and following the return of Louis C.K. as the star of the show on March 29, we are going to have a pair of other stars who have made a name for themselves in the feature film world.
We begin with the news that on April 5, “Pitch Perfect” star Anna Kendrick is going to make her debut hosting the show, and it will be none other than Pharrell Williams who serves as the musical guest for the occasion. We figure that Anna could’ve done this herself if she really wanted to bust out the cups and perform the song of the same name (otherwise known as “When I’m Gone”); however, this does also give Pharrell a reason to be “Happy.” Don’t worry; there are no musical puns the rest of the way.
Following this stint by Kendrick, the April 12 show features the return of Seth Rogen for his third stint as host, where he will be joined by Ed Sheeran as a musical guest. Is this the first time that “SNL” has ever been this kind to members of the red-headed community within the span of a single show?
These two selections are pretty worth choices to come on and do a good job, given that they each have a world of experience being on stage and making people laugh. If there is a nice little trend going this time around, it is that the show is not really trying to book hosts this season who are complete gambles, sort of like Lindsay Lohan was the last time she hosted or Justin Bieber when he did so last year. Maybe this is a way to balance out the new cast members who are on board now.
