‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15, episode 18 video: Alec Baldwin, Katie Couric on guest roles

Wednesday night’s “Law & Order: SVU” episode is going to be big one for so many reasons. Now only is Mariska Hargitay directing an episode for the first time in fifteen years, but she has two people she is very familiar with from real life stopping by for guest spots: Alec Baldwin and Katie Couric.

What sort of roles are these two playing? In the videos below, you can get a little bit more insight on it. Alec is taking on the role of a very old-school crime reporter, and one who definitely has a knack for finding out the truth. What is the twist here? That sometimes, his methods are not exactly what the doctor (or the SVU) ordered, mostly because he has a nasty habit of getting information before anyone else.

Baldwin equated playing a part on the show to a great surfer hitting up some popular waves on a particular Hawaiian island: It’s something that you must do. He is just pleased to have the opportunity now that there is time in his schedule. As for Couric, she is playing a part she is very familiar with in a TV host, and she is glad to take on the challenge largely thanks to the fact that she has been a fan of the show for such a long time.
