‘Supernatural’ season 9, episode 17 preview: First look at Misha Collins-directed hour

Misha Collins -Next week’s “Supernatural” season 9 episode has quite a bit going for it, but obviously what it has been talked about for the most part so far is that it is directed by none other than series star Misha Collins. For the first time, the actor is getting behind the camera to tackle a story, though we suppose it probably helps that this is one that doesn’t feature Castiel in an important role.

Instead, “Mother’s Little Helper” is something geared a little bit more around Sam and Dean trying to put their problems in the past, and also dealing with Dean having the Mark of Cain without the first blade. After all the work that Crowley did in order to retrieve it, he now seems to be a little bit more inclined in using it to just try and screw him over.

Also, the preview and the synopsis below both tease even more Men of Letters goodness, and Alaina Huffman playing a role who is at least a little bit different than her signature Abaddon:

“Dean (Jensen Ackles) struggles with the after effects of the Mark of Cain. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) hears about a case where straight-laced people are turning into violent murderers. Sam suspects possession and suggests to Dean that they investigate, but Dean tells him to go without him. While interviewing the local townsfolk, Sam meets an elderly woman named Julia (guest star Jenny O’Hara), who tells him the Men of Letters came to town in 1958. Josie tells Sam the story of a young man named Henry Winchester (guest star Gil McKinney) and his female companion, Josie Sands (guest star Alaina Huffman).”
