‘Masters of Sex’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Breaking Bad’ alum Betsy Brandt on board

After Betsy Brandt proved her comedy chops throughout the first and only season of “The Michael J. Fox Show,” we did not see her getting into drama again so soon. However, that is precisely what the actress is doing, and she has chosen one of the most critically-acclaimed dramas of the past year as a means of doing so.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Breaking Bad” actress has joined Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” for a very important role on the second season. Specifically, her part is going to be the new secretary to Michael Sheen’s Dr. William Masters. This is a job that Virginia Johnson showed virtually no interest in as she became more of an active participant in the study (and we mean that more ways than one). This is a nice get for the Showtime drama when it comes to booking another popular actor, which it needs to give it that much more of a ratings boost. The show fared decently in its first go-around, as funny as it may be that people who have no problem watching terrible violence are suddenly offended and prudish about people taking their clothes off.

“Masters of Sex” will again air its season in the fall following the fourth season of “Homeland.” Both shows are going to be particularly coy when it comes to giving much in the way of details away about their stories, but when it comes to the Brandt’s new show, it is not too hard to figure out where the story is headed. Just consult history; while the show may create original characters from time to time and augment things, it is not going to shift that far from what Masters was known for and the impact that he had on the community.
