‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Some characters from ‘The Flash’ will appear
Even though it may no longer be the case that “The Flash” is going to serve as a backdoor pilot for “Arrow,” the show is still doing something now to ensure that Barry Allen remains a part of this universe in some indirect way.
At a press event on Monday, show executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that two of the primary cast members in Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes are going to appear in the upcoming 19th episode of the CW staple. Panabaker’s character of Caitlin Snow is a woman who lost her fiance in the tragedy at the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator, which is also what has caused Barry to go into a coma. If we had to guess now, it is easy to suspect that Caitlin may go on to become Killer Frost.
Valdes’ character of Cisco Ramon, meanwhile, may end up becoming Vibe if the cards all fall into place. If this does end up being true, what is interesting about is that it gives “The Flash” three characters who may eventually all be an important part of the hero universe from the get-go. When you look back at the origins of “Arrow,” it really didn’t have that at all. Instead, its original series regulars were Diggle (who was not in the comics), Laurel (who may or may note ever become Black Canary), and a guy in Tommy Merlyn who is now dead in one of the show’s most-shocking twists. “The Flash” is loading up.
The original plan was for the 20th episode of “Arrow” to be a formal origin story for Grant Gustin’s character, but that was changed in order to give him a full pilot with a larger budget to tell his story properly.
