TV quick hits: Conan O’Brien’s MTV gig, ‘The View’ vs. ABC, ‘Psych’ series finale scoop, more

The video below -We’re not going to waste much time here in this edition of TV quick hits; let’s instead go right in to what are some of the big stories breaking across our favorite medium today!

Conan O’Brien’s big gigConan has been booked to host the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, and he announced it on his TBS show tonight with the following quip: “After eight years of intense negations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV’s second most prestigious awards show.” Conan should bring the much-needed snark to this event, which really needs it so that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Based on some of the movies that this show has acknowledged over the years, we’ve come up with the opinion that there really is any way that this show can take itself seriously.

Watch the video of Coco’s announcement below; the 2014 MTV Movie Awards are going to air on Sunday, April 13. Yes, that is when you’ll be watching “Game of Thrones” instead.

“The View” ladies upset – What has Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters so angry at their employers today? In a segment on “The View,” the ladies took ABC to task for not giving them prestigious invites to the Oscar red carpet like many other daytime shows received. Whoopi was already there, and we really have to ask the question: Aren’t there too many people at the red carpet already? We feel like this would be so much more effective if this looked a little bit less like a mob.

“Psych” series finale scoop – It’s a tiny update, but an important one. According to TVLine, both O’Hara and Chief Vick are going to be in the finale! Even if you are bummed about not saying them moving forward for a couple of weeks, they will still have a role to play.

Kimmel’s defense – After interviewing Toronto Mayor Rob Ford in what was basically fifteen minutes of pure bashing, Kimmel responded to claims that the Mayor was unhappy with his treatment during his opening monologue today: “It seemed like we were having fun. We went over much of his remarkable life. We reviewed some of his home videos. But then after the show, he was apparently upset … Why, I’m not exactly sure. I asked him about drinking and smoking crack. What were we supposed to talk about? His other hobbies?”
