Fox’s ‘Gotham’ casts ‘Touch’ alum David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne

Out of all the child actors that Fox’s upcoming “Gotham” series could have cast in the role of a young Bruce Wayne, we are mostly surprised that the one they selected is someone that we have actually heard of.

Sources confirm that David Mazous, who was best known as the young child Jake from Fox’s “Touch,” has landed the huge part of Bruce on the upcoming drama from Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist”). While the show may not be solely about his character, we know already that he is going to be an integral part of the story and someone that a younger Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is going to have to try to care for and protect.

The odds of “Gotham” becoming a smash still are up in the air; while there is a very good cast on board, question marks remain when it comes to getting the story across properly, and also making sure that this is a very different sort of Batman story than the ones that we have been handed over the years through other mediums. This is, after all, one of the most played-out superhero productions on TV. It’s been featured in video games, movies, comic books, cereal boxes, and a dozen or so other things. You have to find a way to tell a story that has not been told a million times over in other places.

This show could air as early as the fall, and we should get a little better idea when Fox has its upfront presentation come May.
