‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’: Teresa Giudice, husband Joe enter guilty plea

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” is really looking at a very different future now, and it is all courtesy of what happened at a courtroom in the state on Tuesday.

As previously reported and expected, Joe and Teresa Giudice both entered a guilty plea following a variety of charges related to fraud, which has been documented over the past 12 months pretty extensively. We’re not going to through here and lay out every little thing that the two were accused of doing, mostly because that is ultimately rather inconsequential now. What is important is that the two are going to be potentially receiving many others of jail time.

Thanks to some federal guidelines, Joe could receive somewhere between 37 to 46 months in prison, while his wife could receive somewhere between 21 and 27 months. Do we really think either one of them will serve that long? Hardly. This is celebrity justice we’re talking about here. We do expect them to be behind bars, but when you consider everything that can be docked off of these sentences, we’re thinking that it will be significantly shorter.

In a statement, Teresa had the following to say about entering the verdict, and moving forward:

“I am heartbroken that this is affecting my family. Especially my four young daughters, who mean more to me than anything in the world. I have said throughout that I respect the legal process and thus, I intend to address the court directly at sentencing. I will describe the choices I made, continue to take responsibility for my decision, and express my remorse to Judge Salas and the public.”

Bravo has yet to comment, and it will be interesting to see whether or not this has an impact on her future with the series. Obviously she cannot film behind bars, but could the show terminate her for something akin to a morals clause? It should be interesting to see.
