Fox moves ‘American Idol XIII’ results show back an hour, brings back ‘Hell’s Kitchen’
Clearly, Fox is not too interested in making “American Idol” go up against “The Big Bang Theory” anymore … and thanks to that, they are effectively throwing Chef Gordon Ramsay to the wolves.
In a surprise announcement today, Fox confirmed that starting a week from Thursday, the network is going to push back the results show to 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, where it will no longer compete against the heavy competition brought on by Sheldon Cooper and company. The show has been decimated by the sitcom in recent years, and it was only getting worse.
So who was the worthy replacement here? As we mentioned, it’s Chef Ramsay. New episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” is going to premiere its new season a week from Thursday, where it will air at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Who knows? Ramsay has been known to survive all sorts of stuff on the show before, and we don’t put it out of the realm of possibility at all that he manages to actually draw better ratings here than anyone would imagine that he would. This is why this show has been on the air for as long as it has. While “MasterChef” gets more of the promotion now, both are still warriors in their own right.
With this sort of new, though, is a casualty, and this time around, it is the Greg Kinnear show “Rake.” You new already that this was going to be a drama that was out the door, but moving the show to Fridays is further proof of that. Fox will allow the episodes to burn off on the night where shows often go to die, and it will lead into new episodes of “Raising Hope” and “Enlisted” .. which will both also probably be canceled.
