Who doesn’t love to have a good ol’ time at Mardi Gras? It’s practically what the event was made for. We saw all sorts of fun in New Orleans for the annual Krewe of Endymion Parade this weekend, and there were two television stars at the center of it all: Ian Somderhalder and Norman Reedus. The respective stars of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Walking Dead” were on hand to marshal the event, and that included meeting with fans, handing out beads, and of course taking part in what are the traditional festivities for the event. Basically, this was the sort of big party that everyone would want to be invited to if they had it their way.
You can see one image of the festivities below via the official Instagram account of Ian, who is already back hard at work on the CW show in Atlanta. This is what makes it difficult for him to do festivities like this during the spring, since he has one of the more jam-packed schedules out of anyone on TV. The same could be said for Reedus, who also shoots his show in the Atlanta area. While he is not shooting right now, he has been on a promotional tour as of late for this past episode.
We don’t even have to explain what Mardi Gras means to the city of New Orleans. It is one of their most important events of the entire year. It brings in people from all around the country, we’re sure having two actors of this caliber in the area probably helped the tourism industry that much more.
There is ironically more of a vampire presence in New Orleans than ever these days … at least when it comes to their being fictional ones in a fictional version of the city. The “Vampire Diaries” spin-off “The Originals” is set in the city, but it is actually also filmed in Georgia.
