‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 spoilers: Laura Carmichael on filming (so far)

While we may have just seen the end of “Downton Abbey” season 4 on PBS last night, but you can take some solace in the fact that the series is already preparing to bring you some more great stuff. The cast and crew are already back at work crafting some new episodes, and if you listen to one of the show’s stars, there is quite a bit here to still look forward to.

Laura Carmichael, otherwise known as Lady Edith, took part today in a Reddit AMA, where she asked a variety of questions all about her role, and being a part of the show. When the subject matter eventually did get to season 5, she was fairly coy, but still hopeful that there could be some great things on the horizon for the character:

“Well we’re starting filming now so I can’t give away anything at all. But it’s classic Edith that she’s going to be living at the estate. I hope that we find a way to find some happiness for Edith. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must have been, and we’ll have to see what Julian Fellowes comes up with!”

Of course, Laura already knows a good bit of what is coming up, as this could be one of the more interesting arcs for her now that her character is a single mother, opposed to someone trying to deal with some unnerving situations and a man who had gone completely missing. We still don’t even know what happened to Michael, and we may never end up learning.
