NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 6 premiere video: ‘America’s Got Talent’ alum Bria Kelly auditions

Remember Bria Kelly? She made it to the live shows back on season 7 of “America’s Got Talent” (the one in the summer of 2012 won by Olate Dogs), but was eliminated a week after making it through the YouTube show. At the time, we thought she had a good voice, but was not anything particularly special or memorable.

This is why we love “The Voice,” because it actually gives legitimately talented people a chance for another shot without hate, or comments like “but they already had a shot.” This is not a show about undiscovered talent so much as just finding people who entertain us … and Bria has improved by leaps and bounds since her days in front of Howard Stern and Howie Mandel.

Her blind audition below managed to get all four chair to turn around, which is something that we hear is going to happen more this spring than in the fall; when it comes to her voice, we understand why. There were probably a few times that she went a little heavy on the runs, but this is a show that you can really do that with an audition, given that you really have to stand out without anything other than the way you sing.

As for whether or not we legitimately see her picking any coach other than Blake Shelton … it’s doubtful. We know that she performs a decent amount of country music, even if she has some other influences. Why not pick the country guy? It’s no slight against anyone else; it just makes sense, especially since his two winners in Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery are each in the midst of careers in Nashville.
