‘Orange is the New Black’ season 2 scores June 6 premiere date

Just in case you are not excited enough about Netflix series right now thanks to the recent debut of “House of Cards” season 2, we now come bearing a gift: The premiere date for the new season of “Orange is the New Black.” This is the dramedy that really took most of Hollywood by storm last year, and developed a crazy following in almost the blink of an eye.

Based on the new art released this weekend, the new season of the show will launch all at once on Friday, June 6, which means that you better block off that weekend for some binge-viewing of new content.

What has been somewhat interesting about this series in particular is just seeing all of the headlines that started stemming from the news that Laura Prepon may or may not have a big part in the show this time around. We’ve learned since the initial panic that she will be present for the vast majority of it, but that was still not enough to halt some of the temporary tailspins.

The one other interesting thing that we will point about this show is the timing when it comes to the Primetime Emmy Awards. This season in the summer will likely be submitted for the show in 2015, while the 2014 show will be for season 1; in case that all wasn’t complicated enough, early reports are that the show is still planning to submit as a drama rather than a comedy, which really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense given that you would think there would be a little less competition in the comedy category.

Anyhow, are you excited for the new “Orange is the New Black” premiere to get here? Share some of your thoughts below.
