‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5, ‘Drop Dead Diva,’ ‘Devious Maids’ shut down by Atlanta storm
In what is the latest bit of evidence that the south is in no way equipped to handle inclement weather the same way as a New York City or a Toronto: A series of shows were forced to halt production in Atlanta this week due to a massive storm that brought in chilly temperatures and plenty of snow.
So what were the shows impacted? “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” are the two network shows to suffer the inconvenience, which we’re sure it truly was for them. While these two do have their fair share of sets, they also traditionally have a good many outdoor scenes since these vampires and werewolves spend a ton of time going from one place to another.
Also, Lifetime has also been forced to halt both “Devious Maids” as well as “Drop Dead Diva” for the time being thanks to the weather. All of these interruptions are of course brief, and the shows will get back to work soon. This is just the sort of stuff that tends to happen during the production cycle from time to time, regardless of whether or not you are talking about weather.
The Lifetime series will be back on the air a little later this year, so be on the lookout for a little bit more news on that; meanwhile, both “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” will return to TV at the end of this month, after the conclusion of the Olympics.
