‘The Biggest Loser’ finale review: Was David Brown, Bobby Saleem, Rachel Frederickson a winner?

The Biggest Loser -While “The Biggest Loser” received the vast majority of its publicity before the season courtesy of Ruben Studdard appearing on the show, it was of course much more about the competition as a whole in the finale. Though with that being said, congrats to Ruben for losing almost 120 pounds! (Of course, there was some sort of musical performance featuring him in the closing minutes of the episode.)

In getting back to the actual results of the episode, we knew that the race was between Rachel Frederickson, David Brown, and Bobby Saleem for the title this season. Bobby to us was more or less the underdog, mostly because he was the rare contestant to return to the ranch and actually make it a little while longer still.

Here is the interesting thing about Rachel’s big win in the end: She actually lost nearly 60% of her total weight, which is really pretty stunning even for this show. But, she’s actually now technically in the Underweight BMI classification with an 18.0. Is she going to stay at that level forever? Probably not, given the way in which this show has proven to work over the years. All three of the finalists of course did great in their individual quests, and have something to be proud of with that.

At the end of the day, though, “The Biggest Loser” is basically the same thing every time you watch it with slightly different results. There are moments that you are moved, and then moments you are entertained. However much you get out of it is just based on your connection to the contestants. We did root for some of them hard, and that made this season worth watching. Grade: B.
