‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Melissa McCarthy questions Imagine Dragons
There is a pretty darn big episode of “Saturday Night Live” coming up this weekend, as NBC hopes to at least serve as some sort of temporary distraction from the massive amount of buzz surrounding the Super Bowl. They have a host in Melissa McCarthy who is one of the best people, save for maybe Justin Timberlake, to appear in such a capacity. Also, her presence, coupled with the amount of A-listers currently in New York City for the game, more than increases the odds that there could be more than a few famous faces who stop by at some point during the episode.
This new preview, though, merely features Melissa along with musical guest Imagine Dragons, and almost all of their jokes are about the name. First, she and the group try to actually imagine a dragon, and she alter asks them whether or not their entire concept was the product of them using a ton of drugs. Notice that they weren’t particularly super-quick to deny it.
For the band, the big benefit to appearing here is obviously just the further notoriety, and it comes just a mere week after one of their biggest performances ever at the Grammy Awards. They performed a mash-up there alongside Kendrick Lamar, and their tracks “Radioactive” and “Demons” have become two of the biggest rock hits of the past year. Let’s also not forget “It’s Time,” which is the song that really actually helped to put them on the map.
What do you think about this preview, and do you think that McCarthy is going to be able to topple some of her own, already insanely-high expectations? Share some of your thoughts below! Also, click here to see another “SNL” preview featuring McCarthy and this time Kenan Thompson.
