There are few things in the world as ridiculous as the Puppy Bowl … and yet, we all watch anyway. There are few shows out there that spur pet adoptions like this would, also few that bombard you with so much cuteness that you may feel blinded when you are actually watching the Super Bowl itself.
The tenth edition of the big “game” airs Sunday night on Animal Planet, and just … well, because, we’ve got a preview video below from this morning’s edition of “Good Morning America.” Are there some cute puppies in here wearing football uniforms of the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos? You better believe it. But personally, what we find more entertaining is the cringe-worthy reactions of hosts Laura Spencer and Josh Elliott to this, there are at least a few moments in here when it does not exactly feel like either party is really that pumped up to be covering all things puppy for the better part of the morning show, though hats off to Josh for being the first one to enter the field and try to have fun with it.
Just in case the idea of the Puppy Bowl itself is not enough for you, the show this year includes penguin cheerleaders and also a halftime performance from none other than Keyboard Cat. This entire thing still sounds like a YouTube video, but it has somehow become this sort of international phenomenon that is one of the most-watched non-Super Bowl events of the day.
This year’s edition starts on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time, which is before the start of the big game. Excited? Let us know below, and you can also click here to receive more updates from our CarterMatt Newsletter.
