‘Girl Meets World’ picked up for full season by Disney Channel
Even though the premiere episode of “Girl Meets World” has yet to even air (heck, a premiere date for the show has not even been set yet), the folks over at the Disney Channel are making sure that their commitment to making this show into a hit is obvious to everyone.
Today, it was officially confirmed that “Girl Meets World” is going to air for a full 21 episodes when it premieres, which is quite a hefty commitment to make to a show at this stage. But, we get why they are as confident as they are in this potentially being a hit. Just think about it for a minute. From the get-go, this show is going to have the diehard fans of “Boy Meets World” who are interested in seeing more of the story, and figuring out if Cory and Topanga’s daughter has the same sort of charm that they had while growing up. Also, the show will have the new generation of Disney Channel viewers who check out many of their other scripted content.
At the moment, the only real risk that the producers seem to be running into is if the tone of the show ends up being a little too young, given that this is airing more on a children’s network compared to where we saw the original show on ABC. It’s hard to say whether or not that is a legitimate concern until it airs, even though the folks in charge of the show already cautioned us that there really is not a reason to fret. We’ll have a little bit more news on that as it becomes available.
