‘King of the Nerds’ season 2 premiere: Go behind the scenes now! (video)

In a matter of hours, the “King of the Nerds” season 2 premiere shall be upon us! What does this mean? Think along the lines of epic battles, frequent exposition getting to know the contestants, and also some sort of big challenge.

At the moment, though, what we are really looking forward to is this first Nerd-Off, which season 1 runner-up Genevieve highlights in the video below. The best challenges on this show to us are the ones that we could see contestants (or at least us) fantasizing about doing in real life. If the Nerd-Off tonight is really some sort of quidditch-inspired task, we are insanely jealous. Almost every “Harry Potter” reader has wanted to chase the Golden Snitch down at some point. It’s on the Harry Potter bucket list along with putting on the sorting hat, finding an invisibility quote, and maybe being able to have a pet owl. (We’re sure that there are some out there who may actually want a chocolate frog … but we’re good.)

Hopefully, these little videos are going to be a tradition to add to the “King of the Nerds” lore for the season, mostly because it is another cause for excitement. In case you haven’t gotten figured it out with the cast spotlights we’ve been doing all month, we are probably more pumped-up about this premiere than anything else we cover. If you haven’t seen the show before, it’s pretty much must-see TV if you identify yourself with nerd culture. It’s a celebration rather than something patronizing, and the contestants have the brains, the cosplay background, and the understanding that “Doctor Who” is one of the greatest things ever.
