‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15, episode 12 preview: Mariska Hargitay’s Benson challenged by…
Slowly and surely on “Law & Order: SVU,” we inch to what could be one of the biggest moments of the entire season: Olivia Benson really taking the reigns as Sargent after so many years of preparation.
But, is she really ready for the role? That is something that she may have questioned herself, and you certainly see none other than Nick Amaro question it in the new sneak peek below from Wednesday night’s episode. Basically, Amarto makes Mariska Hargitay’s character feel like she is not ready, and there is only one thing that we could see coming from this in the end: Trouble, and plenty of it. Amaro almost immediately claims that his comment “came out wrong,” and that it was not what he intended to say in the slightest. Unfortunately for him, he said what he said, and he now has to face some of the consequences that come with it.
As for the story the rest of the episode, brace yourself to watch something that is really all about whether or not the SVU team can, with the help of some old friend (Alana de la Garza, who has quite a robust history with this franchise), crack a case that involves trafficking, the government, and so much more. It is one of the biggest cases of the entire season, and the implications of everything involved here are pretty severe.
This episode, entitled “Jersey Beatdown,” is hopefully going to help usher in a new era for the show with Benson in a slightly different role. There will still be cases and heated investigations, of course; but what makes this show especially noteworthy in many ways is that it finds a way to tweak the formula just enough to make it different, but also keep things so familiar that no one ever tunes out and becomes confused.
