‘Saturday Night Live’: Seth Meyers comes up with fake questions for Chris Christie, others

Seth Meyers -If any of Seth Meyers’ back catalog is to be taken into consideration here when it comes to his upcoming gig hosting “Late Night,” then we have a feeling that he is going to do a very good job. The “Saturday Night Live” head writer / “Weekend Update” host has the comedy chops to deliver his own solo talk show, and he’s also quick on his feet even without being able to prepare for it in advance.

Meyers confirmed the latter for us this week during an appearance on “Ellen,” where she tried to get him to come up with a fake question that he would ask a number of celebrities in the event that they were to come on his show. Some of the stars at the center of the debate included Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Chris Christie, Clint Eastwood, and also Ellen himself. All of Seth’s zingers were mildly funny, but his ones about the embattled New Jersey Governor as well as Kardashian were our personal favorites (even if the latter does somehow keep Kim in the spotlight a little bit longer).

The difficult part of this process for Seth in particular has been that unlike other talk-show hosts from years past, he really has not been given much of a chance to actually prepare for this gig. He is going to stay on “SNL” until February 1, and then has slightly more than three weeks to get ready for the February 24 start date. He revealed earlier this week at TCA that Amy Poehler, his former “Weekend Update” co-anchor is going to be joining him as his first guest. Appropriate? Definitely.
