‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: New Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev scoop

If there is one thing that “The Vampire Diaries” is probably going to continue to rely on time and time again over the course of its run, it’s drama. Not only that, but relationship drama. Did you really think that the Damon – Elena – Stefan love triangle was over? If so, have you been watching this show? The triangle could be ignited later this season, especially if you take the photos attached here from the upcoming “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (airing early in February) to be fact.

The first thing that we obviously take from these is that Elena (at least we think it is Elena) is that they are together at what has become a little bit of a “Vampire Diaries” staple at this point: A dance. We have no idea how these characters are able to constantly afford so many wonderful gowns and tuxedos, but they did manage to pull it off again and again. There’s almost always something bad that happens at these dances, but at least people get to move around the stage at some point before that happens.

Now, let’s throw a little bit of a wrench into things: Are Caroline and Stefan going to also have a moment or two? This is a pairing that has been the target of great fan speculation for the past year or two, but it has really heated up over the past few episodes. They will at least be spending some time together, but that is no guarantee of really anything. They could just be keeping this whole “friendly” thing going for a little while.

Before you do come to this episode, there will be some other good stuff taking place … including the big 100th episode “500 Years of Solitude” taking place in just under a week.
