‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: More news on DJ Qualls, Garth’s return

“Supernatural” this season has already featured a number of its most-delightful recurring guest stars, whether you are looking at Charlie (Felicia Day), Bobby (Jim Beaver), Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes), or the not-so-delightful Abaddon (Alaina Huffman). So why not go ahead and add another to the mix following the departure of a fan favorite (Kevin) in Garth? You already knew that DJ Qualls was coming back to the show, but you may not have realized just how he’ll be doing so.

The episode airing on January 28 is entitled “Sharp Teeth,” and based on the synopsis below, Garth is going to play at least some sort of emotional role in it. Also, it sounds like we are looking at something a little bit more standalone after spending some time lately dealing with Gadreel and the angel war:

“After finding out that Garth (guest star DJ Qualls) is in the hospital, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) go to check on him. Still carrying the guilt over Kevin, Dean lays into Garth about disappearing and demands to know where he’s been. Garth makes an excuse and then hightails it away from the guys. Confused as to why Garth would run from them, Sam and Dean do some investigating and are stunned by what they find.”

Sound like a fun one to you? We’re always down to see a little bit more of Garth, mostly because some of the quirky characters on this show are always the best. Also, we’re interested to see how Dean deals with grief this time around, given that he doesn’t always have the best reputation of handling things well … at all. Then again, part of the reason he’s so endearing is because he gets so reactionary to things sometimes.
