‘American Idol XII’: Want to chat with Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, more?

The new season of “American Idol” is now only a week away from premiering on Fox, and the network is once again busting out every attempt to convince people that the show is much-improved this year in comparison to where it was during that disastrous 2013 campaign: They are opening up social media to give you a chance to chat with some of your former favorite contestants.

The best thing for you to do is to be around on social media over the next few days, and also be prepared to have some good questions in advance. For Facebook, you just need to ask your question at the page and it should be answered in the comments; meanwhile, for Twitter you have to use the hashtag #IdolBlitz and send it to the Twitter account of the person you want to respond to you.

Sound fun? Well, hopefully, it will serve as a nice little opportunity for “American Idol” to get the word out, and to also remind people that there are some serious reasons to watch this time around. While we cannot speak in full just yet about the upcoming season, it does at least feel like the show is doing everything right when it comes to building up excitement. In some ways, that really is half the battle.

What do you think about these plans, and does seeing past contestants as well as J.Lo talking about the show make you any more excited? Share below.
