NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 video: Jim Rash gives tour of new teacher’s lounge

The second part of Thursday night’s “Community” premiere did more than just bring us the greatness that is Jonathan Banks in his new role as Professor Hickey; it also managed to show us a completely new set for the show to go along with it in the teacher’s lounge. This is a place where we can see Jeff Winger have some great conversation with many of the other teachers, and one of the best things about it is that he does not have to deal with many of the students at the school at the same time.

One other person who cannot enter the lounge? Dean Pelton, which is what makes the video below all the more interesting. In it, the man behind the Dean in Jim Rash takes us on a tour of the grand new locale, including a pretty awkward take on some of the school’s mascot history. Let’s just say that compared to the sort of mascot that previously inhabited the school, the Human Being is almost not a big deal at all. (We’re just as surprised about that as you are.)

The faculty is going to remain a big part of the show all year, as evidenced by the fact that Banks will be around for the rest of the year in the same sort of role that Chevy Chase previously inhabited. He’s not the same sort of curmudgeon, but he’s a curmudgeon nonetheless. You’re also going to see a ton of John Oliver, which should help to fill out the faculty even more given that Ken Jeong’s Chang is also now back in that capacity.

What do you think about this new set? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below.
