‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Where did Ian Somerhalder ring in 2014?

“The Vampire Diaries” is currently on a filming hiatus, and thanks to that, Ian Somerhalder and company are getting an opportunity to celebrate 2014 all around the world.

We have already posted some images showing that Paul Wesley, Nathaniel Buzolic, and Phoeboe Tonkin are spending some time right now in Australia, while Ian actually celebrated the arrival of the new year in none other than Japan. If you look down to the bottom of this article, you can see an image of him from his Instagram; we’ve also enclosed the caption to make it very easy to read:

We went ahead and left the full message in there just to get Ian a little more publicity right now for his foundation, which is still looking to raise money for a variety of different animal and wildlife-related causes all around the country and parts of the world. In between this foundation and the show, it is really rather amazing that he has any time at all to travel.

Ian will return to America soon to commence work on the rest of “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, and the show will return with new episodes on Thursday, January 23.
