‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 14 preview: The ‘slap bet’ returns big

If you have been eagerly awaiting more of the slap bet on “How I Met Your Mother,” the news that we have for you now is going to make you smile: It’s going to be back, and perhaps even more entertaining than it ever was before. The title is “Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra,” and that probably sums up perfectly every little thing that is going to happen into this half-hour of television from start to finish.

Unfortunately, the first promo for this episode below does not really do too much at all when it comes to spoiling the events that we are going to see unfold. Instead, all we really have to go on here is that the episode will revolve around Barney Stinson finally getting what Marshall has been wanting to give him for a long time. He’s going to do almost anything that he can in order to avoid the slap, but almost all of it will be in vein. Not only that, but he cannot even get Robin to step in and take the slap for him in what could have been a last-minute gesture of kindness.

Based on everything that is out there, the only real way that we can describe this episode is silly. It’s not going to be something that any rational person can take seriously, mostly because it is just all about hitting us with constant comedy time and time again. The show will take a little bit of a darker turn, but not until the next week when “Unpause” airs. That is when you are potentially going to have an opportunity to see the aftermath in Marshall and Lily’s relationship after he made the decision to take a job as a judge rather than go to Italy.
