‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: Rebecca Mader’s Wicked Witch surfaces in new promo

Are you feeling the “Once Upon a Time” withdrawals? Unfortunately, we are not going to have much in the way of solace for you anytime in the near future. Sunday, March 9 is currently scheduled to be the return date for the series, and in the latest preview that aired over the weekend for the rest of the season, ABC made their promotional status pretty clear: Make everyone realize that the Wicked Witch is on the show.

What is going to be more interesting to diehard fans is seeing the sight of Rebecca Mader’s character from the “Wizard of Oz” universe enter the town of Storybrooke, which was presumably destroyed at the end of “Going Home.” What do we make of this? It’s possible that a twist keeps it around, but the theory that we are a little more inclined to embrace at the moment is simply that this promo is meant to be out of context to the rest of the series, similar to how Ariel and Captain Hook were first introduced at Comic-Con. We couldn’t make anything of it, save that it is pretty awesome.

What we are personally much more interested in right now is trying to figure out what the arrival of the Wicked Witch really means. Who could she have a beef with? The easy guess is the Evil Queen since everyone seems to hold a grudge against her, but there are some other options in the cast when it comes to people who may or may not always act with the best of intentions.  She is clearly showing up for a reason, though, and that is something that we are excited to discover among a number of other things.
