‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ season 4, episode 9 review: Brandi Glanville strikes again
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has been a lot of fun this season with the addition of Carlton Gebbia. We can’t say enough how much we love her and the crazy energy she brings to the show. One thing we have not been much of a fan of though has been Brandi Glanville’s antics… she’s just been so negative and her picking on Joyce all season has been really uncomfortable to watch.
On this week’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Lisa decides to organize a dinner to see if Joyce and Brandi can’t find some way to squash their issues.
Before the dinner started Lisa gave Brandi very specific instructions to play nice and stop calling her Joyce “Jacqueline”. She also told Joyce that this was a fresh start for everyone, but Joyce still has her guard up and tension builds at the table when she says that all of the women are very beautiful, but that they haven’t been the easiest get along with.
Even though no one was speaking to Brandi, she once again decides to weigh in and starts saying that her two mutual friends with Joyce “don’t speak highly of her”. Finally the root of the problem all season comes out and Brandi confronts her about a “piece of advice” she gave to Joyce when they first met saying that Lisa can give criticism but can’t take it. Joyce revealed this “advice” in front of everyone (including Lisa) at the beginning of the season and now it’s snowballed into this mess.
When Joyce’s husband, Michael, says that if someone has a problem with his wife that they have a problem with him, Yolanda tries to say that the men really shouldn’t be involved. Personally we tend to disagree and feel that a husband should stand up for his wife no matter if it’s a woman or a man pushing their partner around, so we really side with Michael on this one and when Brandi decides to call Joyce “stupid” at the dinner table, we were happy to see that Michael doesn’t put up with it.
The thing that was most interesting to see at this dinner was how it seemed to be okay for Brandi to say whatever she wants and be completely rude, but when Joyce or her husband respond in the same way that they are told to keep it classy. Why is it okay for Brandi, but not okay for them? We’ll admit that we haven’t been the biggest fans of Joyce (not because she’s awful, just because she’s been a bit boring), but we are really feeling sorry for her and honestly we don’t watch this show to feel bad seeing someone being picked on, we watch it to see rich people doing ridiculous things and having silly drama. This show is losing so much of what made it great and Brandi needs to get it together and go back to the crazy fun woman we used to love.
In addition to the usual drama we had Carlton taking her mother in law and husband to a lingerie store, and Brandi and Joyce being in Kyle’s fashion show and making us feel guilty for eating gummy bears while watching this episode (do they really need to be so skinny?) Grade: D
