‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 4, episode 11 preview: First look at winter finale

The latest -After an emotional episode of “Hawaii Five-0” that took place on Friday night regarding the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the show is going in a different direction this week for the winter finale. This episode is entitled “Pukana” (or “keepsake” in Hawaiian), and this will be an action-oriented story about a mysterious safe, someone who could be after Chin’s life, and some other problems that arise for the Five-0 team.

The promo below doesn’t really reveal much, at least beyond seeing this safe being opened, but with the contents hidden from the viewer. The synopsis below is at least slightly more revealing, though not necessarily on a significantly larger scale:

“Chin’s life is put in danger when a murder investigation reveals that the person behind the crime may be a serial killer. Meanwhile, Danny and Grace find a mysterious puzzle box washed up on the shores of Oahu.”

Ideally, what we would want from this episode is the same thing that we would want from any other fall / winter finale: An exciting mystery, but also something that keeps you engaged and enticed to see what happens on the show next. We know that this show is almost entirely a procedural, but it would be nice if there were a few little serialized elements that keep you firmly involved in the story while you wait. You typically see this for season finales, but why not extend this to winter and fall finales, as well? “Hawaii Five-0” has been solid this season, but a great episode would be a nice way to keep the ratings steady moving into the winter and then the spring, the time in which the ratings tend to get a little rocky for some shows.
