NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: iTunes results favor Will Champlin, James Wolpert, Cole Vosbury

The latest -Are we in store for a massive shocker at the end of the new episode of “The Voice” Tuesday night? Let’s just say that it is a good thing that the #VoiceSave could be around to keep someone from going home who has been a favorite for the vast majority of the season.

In looking at the latest results from iTunes (which could change slightly before the end of the day), Matthew Schuler is ranked in dead last with his take on “It’s Time.” This was his worst performance of the season, and his take on “Hallelujah” from weeks ago is also far and away doing better now than this song is. If the votes here are any indication, he’s going to be in need of some extra help to ensure that he does not be sent out the door.

It’s not a shocker at all that Will Champlin’s stellar “At Last” has him in the top 10, and Cole Vosbury and James Wolpert can also celebrate safety courtesy of top 20 performances. (We don’t think that anyone ranked this high is in any danger, though we’re sure that the polarizing nature of James’ performances will frustrate some out there).

Things are going to get a little bit more interesting the rest of the way; Ray Boudreaux is likely in the bottom three after having the second-lowest total of the week, and it’s really between Jacquie Lee, Caroline Pennell, and Tessanne Chin for likely that final spot. We’ll say that Caroline is in the most trouble here; her performance was ranked the lowest of the three on iTunes (albeit barely), and she’s been in the bottom before. If somehow Jacquie and Matthew are in danger, then some “Voice” fanatics may be crying while preparing their Thanksgiving dinners this week.

The great thing about this season ultimately is that we don’t feel like there is an undisputed favorite, though Cole is starting to look more and more like the guy who could end up winning it for Blake Shelton again.
