‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 11 preview: Neil Patrick Harris and rhymes
While there may be some episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” that excite us more when it comes to story, there is no better gimmick out there (and we don’t mean that in a bad way) than the episode “Bedtime Stories” airing next week. The entire half-hour is going to be brought to us in rhyme, which makes this stand out easily compared to everything else this season. Not only that, but we are going to be getting closer to Marshall finally being back with the rest of the group after spending so much time traveling to New York.
Before we do anything else, let’s start this discussion off with the synopsis:
“Marshall tries to get Marvin to sleep by reciting three rhyming bedtime tales about his friends as they wind down their epic cross-country journey.”
Will Marshall make it in time for the wedding? Pending a disaster, definitely. The only thing that remains a little bit more of a mystery right now is just how Lily is going to react to seeing him in person, given that much of this entire season has been spent awaiting their big fight about Marshall becoming a judge.
On a very different note, get ready to see another appearance now from James Van Der Beek as Simon, Robin’s ex-boyfriend who knows her from her past as Robin Sparkles. He last turned up last season, as he and Barney had a conversation from the great Canadian institution known as Tim Horton’s. If they manage to fit in another Timmy’s appearance on “Bedtime Stories,” it could be for us the greatest thing ever.
In the end, this sort of episode is either going to be something great, or a massive flop. There really is not any middle ground here at all when you have something like this.
