‘American Horror Story: Coven’ episode 6 preview: The axeman of New Orleans
Already once this season, “American Horror Story: Coven” has chosen to take a few cues from the actual history and mythology of New Orleans with the story of Madame LaLaurie. What they are showing us now with the preview for Wednesday night’s new episode “The Axeman Cometh” is that they are not through with doing so just yet.
The character that will be alluded to in this episode is the famed Axeman of New Orleans, who was a horrible criminal throughout the 1910s whose origins and whose fate still remains mystery to this day. He was well-known for murdering people, many of who Italian-Americans, with an axe, and a good many of them were ones that the victim actually owned themselves. He was never caught, but actually warned residents of New Orleans in 1919 (years after he faded from prominence) that he would kill at 12:15 in the morning, and the only people spared would be those enjoying the performance of a jazz band. This seems like some sort of twisted advertisement for jazz clubs, but it’s still interesting.
You really do not get a sense completely in this promo as to how the character is going to manifest himself in the promo below, but you do at least get a few more teasers all about what is going to happen next with Cordelia now that she no longer has the gift of sight. Just as you would expect, she will be staring in the face of a very different sort of world; however, this may come with a bizarre ability to see things that she was never able to before. This certainly at least makes her story more interesting, since she was rather in the dark most of the time even when she had the gift of sight.
There are of course many other subjects that will be addressed in this episode, and we personally just hope that some of them include the return of Evan Peters and also seeing just why Misty Day decided to to use her resurrection abilities at the end of this past episode.
