‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Who is playing Styr, the Magnar of Thenn?

Game of Thrones -Somehow, someway, there manages to be even more cast members being announced for “Game of Thrones” season 4. We cannot even begin to try and list off all of the people who are confirmed to be joining the already-massive cast this year; while they may be killing off a ton of people on this show, they are not quite doing it at a fast-enough pace to make up for the people who are actually still alive.

The latest person joining the fold (per Entertainment Weekly) is Yuri Kolokolnikov, an actor who we can almost be sure that you have never seen before … unless you’re Russian, in which case you have probably seen a few of his films over the years. The actor will be playing, Styr, the leader of a tribe known as the Thenn Beyond the Wall, who will play an important part in the story for Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow. This was previously rumored to be a part played by Joseph Gatt (who is presumably in this season), but it is Yuri behind this part.

“Game of Thrones” season 4 is currently wrapping production in Northern Ireland, and this has been a very different one for the show this year. Unlike season 3, there are no freezing trips to Iceland; as a matter of fact, the country was used for a much different sort of climate this time, and the scenes were filmed over the summer. The show also spent some time this year in a few different locations in Croatia.

There is no word yet as to when season 4 will premiere, but you can probably assume around the same window of time that it did last year, meaning around March 30 or April 6. If it is either date other than these two, it will mark some sort of interesting shift and suggests that HBO has different plans for how they want to position what is now their biggest show.

If you want to see some nice, reasonably-spoiler-free scoop on the big events of season 4, just click here to see what Neil Marshall of “Blackwater” has to say. Somehow, he was secured for both the ninth and tenth episodes this year, meaning that they probably link together in some way.
